We love Cookie A!
We are over the moon to announce the latest addition to The Great Pattern Reorganization of 2009 - Cookie A sock patterns!

We will be working on getting these, and other new patterns, up on the website over the next month. Until then, if you have a question about the patterns we will happily give you information over the phone (352.338.7222).

New patterns!
We are VERY proud to announce that as of last week we began carrying Zephyr Style patterns! Many of you have seen the Green Gable I made last year (in red, not in green) and we are so happy to have these patterns available in the shop now!

Right now we have Glee, Ms. Marigold, Rusted Root, Wicked (I can't wait to make this!), Juliet, 28thirty, and of course Green Gable. You can see other Zephyr Style patterns here. Feel free to give us a shout if there's anything you'd like to see us add to our next order (which at the rate these patterns are moving, will be pretty soon).

Cold weather still got you down?
Even though it's finally warming up here in Gainesville, we never know what will happen around here until March. (Gainesville slogan: "Don't like the weather? Wait five minutes!") If you want to have a quick scarf done before the next cold spell, take a look at two of our newest patterns.

The knitting pattern has eight reversible scarves that can be worked up quickly in a variety of weights and needle sizes. We've recently started including this pattern in our Introduction to Knitting class, so don't be intimidated if you're new-- you will be able to do something in this pattern!
The crochet pattern is very similar; six scarves that can be worked up in a variety of yarns using a variety of hook sizes. There is something in here for anyone from the brand new crocheter to someone who has been hooking for years.

Is there anything cuter that fruit hats on babies?
If so, we don't know what it is. Which is why two of our three new patterns are fruit and veggie hats for kids!

Ann Norling's Kid's Fruit Cap patterns take a heavy DK or light worsted yarn (or anything that gives you 5 sts/inch a US #6 or #7); Patrick's Pumpkin takes a worsted weight yarn and is sized between 19-22.5 inches; and the Ann Norling Infant Set has a cardigan, a blanket, a hat, and booties, which all knit using a worsted weight yarn.

Lorna's Laces sock patterns
Continuing with the theme of sock patterns for Lorna's Laces, we have... sock patterns *by* Lorna's Laces!

Is it just the geek in me, or can anyone else see a set of Gryffindor house color socks done up in that pattern on the top right?!

Wildhorse Farms Designs
We're working on getting new and different patterns in the shop, and one of the lines that we're starting with is Wildhorse Farms Designs (link to Ravelry information).

Wildhorse Farms Designs does sock patterns, using Lorna's Laces yarns-- in the last three weeks they've already become a hit with our customers and we're already on our second order of patterns! We will be working on getting these, and other new patterns, up on the website over the next month. Until then, if you have a question about the patterns we will happily give you information over the phone (352.338.7222).

In which the possibilities are almost endless
Normally a random shipment of patterns might not make the news here at Hanks, but we think these are pretty important because they answer a lot of questions that we get here at the shop.

Easy Knit Baby Blankets Collection 1 answers the question "I want to knit a quick baby blanket or two, need an easy pattern, and want something that will go quick". This pattern has three different very basic patterns in it and uses a worsted weight yarn (Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted, Dream in Color Classy, or Dark Horse Fantasy would be great yarns for these patterns).
Baby Basics has a pattern for two different hats and two different booties, both of which come in newborn and 6 month sizes. Four patterns for the price of one? Sign me up! This knits up great on a DK or Sport weight yarn, such as Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport, Malabrigo Silky Merino, or Aslan Trends Glaciar Del Cielo.
Adult Basic Sock is a fantastically easy pattern for new sock knitters. The pattern is written for three different gauges (fingering, DK/sport, and worsted) and will fit anywhere between a 9-inch to a 13-inch long foot.
Crib-Blanket-Afghan 1 is similar to the other baby afghan patterns mentioned, but with six different designs that you can knit in five different gauges at any of three different sizes... you could run out of people to knit for before you ran out of combinations.
Easy Knit Baby Blankets Collection 2 is the next step up from Collection 1 mentioned above. While simple enough that new knitters could still pick them up without stress, these three patterns are lacier and yet still knit up quickly on worsted weight yarn.
Head Huggers answers the question "I want to knit hats for everyone in my family, do you have a pattern for that?". Why yes; yes, now we do. This pattern has sizes for infant, child, teen, small adult, and large adult-- and as all the patterns are adaptable to four different gauges, you could use anything from a fingering or sock weight yarn up to a worsted weight yarn. Again, you could run out of people with cold heads before you ran out of combinations to use.

Knitscene has arrived!
If you're on Ravelry very often (I'm not! I swear I don't check Ravelry while I'm at work!) you might have noticed the Riding to Avalon sweater being queued up all over town. Hanks now has the pattern available in the latest issue of Knitscene. You can see a full preview of the patterns here!

The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Check out our pal Fiber Fanatics R Us-- she has a published pattern, and we carry it! We only have three or four copies left, but can get more after Thanksgiving. Her pattern is the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, made with ten different colors of Cherry Tree Hill's Supersock.
