The Hanks Question of the Week

Although it's still approximately the same temperature as the surface of the sun here in Florida, the college students are coming back into town and that makes us think of slightly cooler weather, and football (Gainesville is home to the University of Florida, in case you're not local). And that made us think... have you ever crafted something college related? Either a scarf or hat in school colors, or a little crocheted football, or anything along those lines? I think the closest I've gotten is the August scarf (ravel it!). What have you done? Anything? Yes, Harry Potter school color scarves count!

I knitted a bunch of orange-and-blue hats and scarves (with Red Heart and sometimes Fun Fur!) when I first learned to knit. We shall speak no more of them. ;)

Seriously though, the hats are nice and stretchy, and fairly comfy because the yarn mostly doesn't touch the skin. Also, they're perfect for that "rabid fan" look. :D

As a matter of fact, even though I live in Buckeye (OSU) country I am knitting a pair of socks in blue & orange for a niece who lives in Gainesville. I'm even hoping you'll get some Gators' sock yarn in. I bet you would have people standing in line to buy it!

This is going back some years....
When I was in high school (GHS Class of '72), ringing cowbells during the game was a method of noisemaking and support for the team. Yes, that's right. I crocheted a purple ('Canes colors: purple and white) lanyard to wear the thing around my neck! I had great fun at the game...but to think of it?{{{embarassment}}}

Carolyn, I went to GHS for two years, and to this day still am oddly fond of the purple and white combo!

Speaking of Harry Potter, I forgot that I did knit a pair of Gryffindor (spelling?) scarves for my nephews. Sorry to all the HP fans I may have just made twitch with my spelling...
