The Hanks Question of the Week

Do you find, like someone with whom I was recently speaking, that your fiber crafting tends to wind down in the heat of summer? Or are you like the three of us in that it doesn't matter, you simply *must* have fiber running through your fingers no matter what the outside temperature?

I am finding the need to cast on for a sweater, which is so useful in Florida in August. I want to knit or spin regaurdless of the time of year. Give me wool!!

HAH! I feel the same way. I have some handspun that I'm wondering what sort of worsted weight wool I could pair with it to make another Faux Fair Isle raglan sweater. And just last night, out of desperation for something to knit, I did a few rows on Dark Victory, which has been languishing all summer. So yeah... it doesn't matter what the temp is, I must be playing with fiber!

Hey, if you start a big sweater project now, you might have it done by the two weeks in january when a sweater could come in handy... so on with the wool!!

I knit all summer long, but I tend to knit with non-wool fibers in the spring and summer. I like to knit things that I can wear all year long.

A good book on CD , something to drink and airconditioning is the way I want to knit in summer heat.

I must have the fiber no matter what time of year - but I switch to lighter weight knits in the heat - if I'm AC though - I'll drag out a sweater!

Ha ha! I was just thinking about this last night. In general terms, though, nothing to do with the temp. Am taking a break from my sock as my hands are tired. But after sitting for 30 minutes without knitting, I got up to find something in the stash that would knit up on bigger needles. :D Glutton/Punishment... I is here!
