A couple of weeks ago we mentioned being excited about the Summer 2008 Knitting Olympics (please don't feel left out, crocheters/spinners/weavers; we'd love to see you do something too!). The Olympics, I was reminded of while watching TV last night, is about a mere six weeks away.
So here's our question... do you have anything planned? Anything you want to challenge yourself with?

Challenge…a test of somebody's abilities, or a situation that tests somebody's abilities in a stimulating way. So you have my attention, I have been stimulated and all I want to do is sit and knit and watch the day go by slowly. However, work and household tasks are not getting the message.
I will challenge myself to complete the uncompleted and then go above and beyond baby blankets, pillows and dishtowels to the Twisted Sisters sweater residing in the window at Hanks.
Hmmm, I'll have to think about this. I'm not sure that I will challenge myself to something knit, but maybe. I'm thinking that a spinning challenge would be a good one. I have 2 large projects that I've been planning: 1) a couple pounds of yarn suitable for weaving a Tartan, and 2) lace weight yarn (about 1500 yds)from the black Shetland and black alpaca fleeces I have for an intricate lace shawl. I'll be done spinning the cotton by then and may have the kitchen towels on the loom, if all goes well!
I'm torn on this one (I guess that's why I posted about it...). I *could* challenge myself by knitting matching cardigans for my twin god-daughters (because that worked out so well last time HAHAHAHA NOT). I *could* challenge myself by finishing all of my UFOs (considering that one is a long-sleeve pullover in wool and the other is a 12-foot long Dr. Who scarf, I'm thinking... HAHAHAHAH NOT). I *could* challenge myself by choosing a brand of yarn from my stash of which I am inundated (Blue Moon Fiber Arts... Yarn Pirate...) and trying to get my count to zero on those yarns. That certainly would be a challenge; I'd have to work through one skein a day! Ouch! Or I *could* challenge myself by choosing something else from my stash and something from all my favorite projects that I eventually want to make, and do that. Augh! I just don't know~ *POP* drat; my head just exploded.
I don't really have anything planned for this. Am doing the Summer of Socks thing. It is enough, I think, especially since I haven't even finished ONE sock in the last 10 days. Have half of two, though. Like that is helping.
My challenge for the summer was to figure out toe up socks. Am close to that goal, just need to figure out the heel now. And get circs that aren't 2.5s.
Might get around to doing my first shawl this summer. But maybe not.
I'd just like to finish the front half of my sweater. To me, that's a real challenge since I've been ripping out more than I've been knitting lately.

I understand there is no "official" summer knitting olympics. I'm not sure what challenge I'm up to. I do need to knit a pair of socks for a friend.. and may grab those during the games.
Although I'm not doing anything official, I'm trying to whittle down my sock yarn stash this summer. My only other project(s) would be something for a friend's baby. He had the misfortune of being due 6 months after I finished two humongo baby blankets for others, so my "challenge" will be knitting creative baby things that aren't a blanket. Hat, booties, maybe little socks, sweater, etc. As much as I can do over those 6 weeks. Any suggestions?
