Discussion of the Month

While we've seen books and free online patterns for what I'm about to ask, and we've talked with people who have said they were thinking about doing this, we've never actually seen anyone crochet or knit for their pets. Cat toys, sure; but we've never actually seen someone crochet or knit, say, a dog sweater. Or a ferret sling.

Have you ever crafted for one of your pets? What yarn did you use? What pattern? Did the pet like it? How did it work out? Share your stories-- and if you have photos, send them to us and we'll post them!

I'm afraid that I have a soft spot for super-fuzzy pets, so I've never made anything for my pets to wear. However, I do have a new dog with a very goofy face and I think she's going to need a stupid hat come Christmas time...

So far the only thing I've ever made for my cats has been cat toys (ignored) and cat beds (also ignored). They just don't appreciate my time and hard work!

Both my chihuahuas have complete wardrobes of sweaters, but only Laszlo will wear his. Isabel prefers to roll around until her sweater sloughs off, then look at me with big eyes as if to say "Hey, Lady! It's cold down here. Pick me up and put me in your sweater."

I made rat hammocks as my first projects. No pattern. I think they started out as tote bags from the Stitch n Bitch book but maybe not.

Elvis the girl rat ate them.
